About this example

This example is the weekly purchase order a bistro in Austin sends its foodservice wholesaler. It orders seventeen lines of fruit and veg, dairy and eggs, meat and seafood, and dry goods at the wholesaler's current price list, and splits them across a Tuesday and a Friday delivery so fresh fish and herbs arrive for the weekend.

A restaurant PO has to work at 6 am at the back door, not just in accounts payable. So this one gives the delivery windows and the back-door instructions, marks the delivery day on every line, and shows how each quantity was set from par levels and the Thursday stock count. It shows where the food goes in the walk-in, lists the temperature and condition checks the kitchen does with the driver present, and sets terms for substitutions, shortages and payment before the chef's authorisation.

Who it is for

Restaurants, cafés, caterers and other kitchens that order food from wholesalers or local suppliers on a weekly standing order.
