About this example
This example is a credit note a software company issues to a retail customer six months into a three-year subscription. It gives two credits against the first annual invoice: a service credit because uptime in March fell below the 99.9% commitment, and a pro-rata credit for four stores that closed, billed per store on an analytics add-on.
A SaaS credit note should show its working, so this one does. It names the basis for each credit in the customer's agreement, shows the minutes of downtime and the uptime that set the credit band, explains what happened in the outage and what was fixed, and compares the store add-on before and after. It then shows when the credit is deducted, notes the VAT correction and offers a refund instead, under the vendor's credit approval stamp.
Who it is for
SaaS and subscription businesses that issue service credits, downgrade credits or pro-rata adjustments to customers.
