About this example
This example is the quote a CNC job shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sends an industrial customer in answer to a request for quotation: 250 anodized aluminum valve bodies, 500 stainless steel brackets and 120 hardened stainless drive shafts, each machined to the customer's drawings.
Buyers compare machine shop quotes part by part, so this one gives every part its drawing revision, material, cycle time and finish beside the price per part. Programming and first setups, a fixture and the first article inspection report are one-time charges on their own lines, so the buyer can see what will not be charged again on a repeat order. A price break table shows each part at four quantities, and a process table says how each part is made, on which machine and how it is inspected. The quote states its assumptions and exclusions, how long prices hold, the overrun allowance, and that production waits for first article approval.
Who it is for
Machine shops, CNC job shops, fabricators and contract manufacturers who quote customer parts from drawings and RFQs.
